Week 18
Home again and still no semblance of routine... I'll just post some photos of our overnight moorings - and a few other stops along the way.
I have some notes that I have to put into order - but that will take a while, as I readjust to my work! (Does that sound like whinging? - Good! - I think I will for a while!).
The overall route - 705kms
Engine hours - 109.1
I can't yet judge how many litres of fuel we used - we did buy 135 litres - but 20 are still in the jerry can. We started 3/4 full and it is now 1/4 full - all too hard to work out at the moment but suffice to say that the fuel economy is pretty good.
Robin is always a calming influence on the boat and he kept everything in order as you'd expect from a Chief Engineer, Deckhand and Navigator!
(We used an electronic version of the charts - I was soon convinced that these are the way to go (pun intended)!!) I was reminded of my first navigation classes learning to use a sextant and log tables! That is to say, times have moved on a bit!
Lyall was the other crew member. Slightly the senior member and a thorough Gentleman! - from Canada. We had a Canadian flag flying so that was always a good conversation starter. Almost everyone spoke English with us - especially after hearing my grating Dutch!
Lyall and I found that we could nut out the Cryptic Crosswords that have been on board for about 8 years! - and that was in spite of (or because of) the Canadian Whiskey that he had smuggled on board!
(For me, there was always a 4th Crew Member - Janny, who kept the farm and the business going while I was away - thanks!!!).
